VIZIO E600I B3 Review

This new Vizio model E-series 60, LED Smart TV, has an ultra-narrow 10 mm frame, crystal-clear LED-lit picture, and provides a faster, easier-to-use Smart TV experience. Built-in Wi-Fi is included, and the E-Series connects you to the latest movies and music including TV entertainment, and other media from premium apps like Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, VUDU, HuluPlus, YouTube, and Pandora, all without the use of an external device (like a Roku box.) Not only is it Smart, this HDTV features all the latest technology, for example, full-array LED for superior light uniformity, active LED zones for deeper black levels, and an ultra-high 5 million to 1 contrast. Full HD 1080p and 120Hz refresh rate makes this model perfect for sports and fast action scenes.

This Vizio possesses a vivid and very clear picture, especially with actual 1080P content. The Smart Dimming (active LED zone dimming) feature does make a subtle improvement to the picture, so it has been recommended to leave it on. The Smart TV dock comes pre-install with the common applications mentioned previously, such as Amazon Instant Video, NetFlix, Hulu Plus, etc., all of which also may be customized. The Vizio E600I-B3 does have both WiFi and Ethernet connectivity included, although Ethernet is the preferred way, since WiFi can be unreliable.

The picture on this model is nearly borderless, and you can almost effortlessly tweak the picture by selecting “Calibrated” mode.

This produces the best and most natural picture for a well-lit room without over-blowing the colors. The blacks are very deep, and much better than older, backlit Vizio TVs. There are 3 HDMI connections and a whole host of analog connections, as well as digital audio out (optical). The picture may not rival a $1,500 Sony or Samsung, but the picture is still very, very good, and although the viewing angles are decent for this set, don’t expect to get too far from front/center. Another less-than-perfect aspect seems to be that there is no way to adjust how the motion compensation. Older Vizio TVs allowed the consumer to select the “degree of aggressiveness” of the feature. The user’s manual shows the option, but the option is not actually found in the TV’s menu system.

The WiFi included with this model is only 2.4 GHz. If your goal is to stream content and are in a location congested with 2.4 GHz networks, you really want to use a interface that can manage 5 GHz.

Final thoughts

The E600i-B3 has many positive features, and relatively few cons. For the price, this is a very decent HDTV choice.
